Cheers and welcome to our 5th Annual Advent Calendar!
This month, we’re embarking on a high-end bourbon journey, reviewing 25 bourbons from award-winning distilleries across the United States. From December 1st to December 25th, we’ll explore everything from small batches to single barrels, all packed with flavor. Join us in toasting to another incredible year as we share some of our favorite bottles with you!
Our reviews are done using a Glencairn glass and neat, but remember, it’s your bourbon! Enjoy it however you like—over ice, with water, or in a cocktail. The key is to enjoy it your way and not let others influence your experience.
Enough of me rambling. Now, let’s dive into what brought us here!

Review:
I know, I know - this is technically not a bourbon, BUT with the hype around this bottle in the bourbon community earlier this year, it made sense for me to include this one. I wanted to start this years calendar off with two very easy sippers that I would normally suggest to someone that is new into bourbon/whiskey.
Now that I cleared the air there, lets talk about how cool it is that Chris Stapleton and Buffalo Trace paired up to bring us this bottle. One of my favorite artists in the “lab” with one of my favorite distillers - y’all already knew I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this bottle.
Before getting fully into the review, I did want to note that this whiskey is a blend of different whiskeys. This isn’t one of the Buffalo Trace specialties coming from a specific and renowned rickhouse. This isn’t a pour that’s going to bring a ton of depth, but in my opinion is a pretty good pour that should not be overlooked.
Nose:
Initially on the nose, it comes up a little weaker for a 90 proof pour. Give the glass a couple of swirls and it should open up a bit more. I was able to pick up subtle honey, vanilla, and dark fruit.
Palate:
If you like more of a smoother pour vs a little bite - you’re probably really enjoying this one right now. It has the sweeter notes of honey, vanilla, and butterscotch.
Finish:
The finish is meduim in length but brings a nice little cinnamon spice to pair with the rest of the pour’s sweetness.
Final Thoughts:
I think the price point is spot on (around the $39 ball park) for what you’re getting. It’s a conversation starter with the collaboration. It’s a very easy sipper and can be enjoyed with all novice bourbon/whiskey drinkers.
