Welcome to our 6th Annual and Final Advent Calendar.
This month, we’re embarking on a high-end Rye Whiskey journey, reviewing 25 ryes from award-winning distilleries across the United States. From December 1st to December 25th, we’ll explore everything from small batches to single barrels, all packed with flavor. Join us in toasting to another incredible year as we share some of our favorite bottles with you!
Our reviews are done using a Glencairn glass and neat, but remember, it’s your whiskey! Enjoy it however you like—over ice, with water, or in a cocktail. The key is to enjoy it your way and not let others influence your experience.

Nose:
The nose is inviting and has some layers to it. Initially it has burst of baking spice that pairs nicely with sweet vanilla and caramel. There’s a subtle hint of orange peel and pepper as you head into the patate.
Palate:
On the first sip, Sazerac Rye delivers a spicy kick typical of rye, but it’s well-rounded rather than aggressive. It has notes of cinnamon & clove, sweet toffee & vanilla, citrus peel, anise, and a gentle peppery heat.
Finish:
Medium-long finish with lingering spice and citrus, fading into a soft sweetness. It leaves a pleasant warmth that invites another sip.
Final Thoughts:
Sazerac Rye shines in classic cocktails like the Sazerac, Old Fashioned, or Manhattan. Its spice-forward character cuts through sweetness and adds depth, making it a bartender favorite.
